Beginning Tuesday, October 9, the Hurdman Pedestrian Bridge ("Old Rail Bridge") and a portion of the multi-use pathway along the west bank of Rideau River under Highway 417 (Hurdman Bridge) will be closed to pedestrian and cycling traffic.

Detour and notification signs for pedestrians and cyclists are in place. People traveling southbound will be re-routed via Robinson onto the Transitway Bridge and north-west users will be re-routed via the south-west bank of Rideau River to the Transitway Bridge.

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation is currently constructing Hurdman Bridge pier work as part of the Highway 417 Widening Project.

The Hurdman Pedestrian Bridge will re-open in November, 2012, and a revised detour for the multi-use pathway will be in place, via the new University of Ottawa Sports Field, until the multi-use pathway is re-opened in December, 2012.
