City of Ottawa
Construction activities on the Heron Road will result in bridge lane reductions, for approximately one month, beginning June 10, 2013. Traffic on both bridges will be affected during off-peak hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., as the finishing work is being performed.
Bus stops in the construction zone will be relocated and clearly identified. Detours and speed limits will be clearly marked.
The Heron Road Bridge Construction project is part of the City's on-going bridge maintenance program. The $1.5 million project to rehabilitate both the east and west bound structures began in 2011 and is expected to be completed in summer 2013. The work is necessary to bring the bridge up to code and extend the life expectancy of the south bridge. Similar work was conducted on the north bridge in 2011.
